Publisher
DVM Software is a sole trader based in Barcelona, Spain, and the sole developer and publisher of Flash RSS Reader. It is an independent, privately run operation with no parent company or investors. The free version is funded by ads served by Google AdMob; advertisers have no say in which feeds or articles you see.
About the content in Flash
Flash is a reader, not a publisher. It produces no journalism and holds no editorial position.
Every article shown in the app comes from a public RSS or Atom feed. During setup, Flash offers an optional starter pack of feeds from well-known publishers, grouped into categories such as World News, Tech and Sports, and the same topics come back later as Suggested feeds when you add a feed. You can skip them, and you can remove any feed at any time. Beyond that list, Flash does not select, rank or edit what you read. Each article displays the name and icon of the publication it came from, along with its publication date, so the source is always visible.
Copyright in each article remains with the publication that produced it. Questions about a particular article should go to that publication. Flash links to the original in every case.
Common questions
Do I need an account?
No. There is no account, no sign-in and no password. Open the app and add a feed.
Where is my data stored?
In a database on your phone. See the privacy policy for the complete list of what the app sends and where.
How do I move my feeds from another reader?
Export an OPML file from your old reader and import it in Settings. Flash preserves your folder structure where the file describes one.
How do I back up?
Android backs the whole app up to your own Google account automatically, and restores it when you reinstall or switch phones. You can also export your feeds, folders, blocked keywords and bookmarks to a file from Settings and save it wherever you like.
Why doesn't the AI summary work on my phone?
Summaries run on Google's on-device Gemini Nano, which only exists on certain recent handsets. On other phones you can add your own Gemini API key in Settings, under Advanced (keys come from Google AI Studio): tick the box to accept the terms for your own key, then paste it and tap Save & test. Without a key there is no summary button. With a key, a failed summary says why: the key is not valid, today's free use is used up, the Google account is out of credit, Google is busy for a moment, or the service is not available in your country. If it keeps failing, tell us your phone model.
Does Flash show ads?
Not in test builds. The released version shows ads in your feed unless you buy the one-time unlock, which removes them. Either way, Flash blocks advertising and tracking domains inside its own article reader, which is a separate thing and stays true in both.
How much will it cost?
Two versions: one with ads, and a one-time purchase of €7.99 that removes them. One payment, not a subscription. Nothing else differs, and there is no version without one or the other.
Why is anything paid at all?
Flash is built and maintained by one person, and the ads or the one-time purchase pay for that work. Nothing in it costs us per use: AI summaries run on your phone or on your own Gemini key, never on an account we pay for. The price does not lock away any feature.
I'm using Flash already. Will I lose features?
No features go away. Once Flash is released, every install runs the version with ads, unless you buy the one-time unlock. Your feeds, categories, alerts and bookmarks are never affected.
Which languages does it support?
English, German, Spanish, French and Italian. Flash follows your device language automatically.
Is it available on iPhone?
No. Flash is Android only, and there are no current plans for an iOS version.
